MANTRA Chain Freezes Transactions Amid Unidentified Network Incident

The MANTRA Layer 1 blockchain suspended all validator activity and public endpoints on August 21, effectively freezing assets and preventing transactions across its network. The project team labeled the shutdown a precautionary measure while engineering and security units investigate the cause alongside external partners, with no recovery timeline currently provided.

The halt affects critical infrastructure including the MANTRA Bridge and managed Inter Blockchain Communication relays. While the network remains offline, users are unable to move assets or interact with decentralized applications. The team has explicitly advised against engaging with third parties offering "recovery" assistance, citing the high risk of scams during periods of blockchain disruption.

Centralized exchanges, including Upbit, have responded by suspending deposits and withdrawals for the native token. Despite these restrictions, internal trading on centralized platforms continues, as those transactions do not require immediate on-chain settlement. Market reaction was swift: the token price dropped 9.8% to approximately $0.0044, while trading volume surged by roughly 591% to $22.7 million.

Project developers have yet to disclose whether the incident involves a security exploit, consensus failure, or infrastructure vulnerability. No evidence of stolen or compromised funds has surfaced, and the team has not indicated plans for a network rollback or state modification. Resuming operations depends on identifying the technical trigger and ensuring validators can safely restore block production.
