Lundbeck Secures Orphan Designation for Cushing’s Syndrome Drug
The European Commission has granted orphan medicinal product designation to asedebart, an investigational monoclonal antibody developed by Lundbeck. The drug targets adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) to treat endogenous Cushing’s syndrome, a rare endocrine disorder characterized by chronic cortisol excess and significant, often life-threatening, metabolic and cardiovascular complications.
