These high-fidelity systems cover the UH-60A/L and UH-60M Black Hawks, the CH-47F Chinook, and the AH-64E Apache. By moving diagnostics and fault isolation into a virtual environment, the initiative allows soldiers to conduct training cycles 24/7 without removing operational helicopters from flight status. The contract also mandates the delivery of both in-person and virtual Train-the-Trainer courses to ensure local units can sustain the program.

Scott Rauer, president of Akima’s Facility Solutions Group, noted that the deployment targets maintenance proficiency directly at the point of need. Beyond the hardware, the shift toward simulation aims to mitigate equipment wear and reduce the logistical burden of travel for specialized aviation maintenance training. The rollout represents a broader push within the Department of Defense to modernize readiness through immersive technology.
