The sector is undergoing a structural transition as growth drivers migrate away from traditional corporate clients. While corporate revenue growth remains stagnant at roughly 2%, hedge funds and financial sponsors are expanding by 9% and 8% annually. These clients prioritize integrated services—spanning financing, markets, and treasury—rather than the fragmented product offerings currently maintained by many established banks. Nonbank financial institutions are rapidly capitalizing on this gap, with their share of the total revenue pool expected to rise from 19% this year to 23% by 2030.
Regional dynamics are also diverging. While North America maintains its position as the largest market with 46% of the revenue pool, the Asia-Pacific region is poised for the fastest expansion at 5% annually, fueled by capital market booms in India and specialized financial hubs in Singapore. Conversely, Europe faces a more fragmented landscape, with US banks intensifying competition in a slower-growing market.
