The proposed fund, which first appeared in an October 2025 registration statement, never reached the market. In its filing under Rule 477, VanEck confirmed that no shares were issued or sold, and no preliminary prospectus was distributed to potential investors. Matthew A. Babinsky, vice president of VanEck Digital Assets, signed the request, though the company provided no specific rationale for the cancellation.

VanEck Abandons Proposed Lido Staked Ethereum ETF
Asset manager VanEck has officially requested that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission withdraw its registration for a proposed Lido Staked Ethereum ETF. The decision, filed October 14, halts a year-long effort to create a regulated investment product designed to hold stETH tokens and capture staking rewards.

Had it launched, the ETF would have tracked the price of stETH—a liquid staking token representing Ethereum deposited into the Lido protocol. Unlike standard spot Ethereum ETFs, this vehicle aimed to accrue rewards generated through the network's transaction validation process. While the Lido Ecosystem Foundation had previously lauded the application as a bridge for institutional interest in liquid staking, the product remained stuck in the regulatory pipeline. The withdrawal does not affect VanEck’s other pending cryptocurrency filings, including its separate application for a JitoSOL-linked ETF tied to the Solana network.
