Nippon Express Holdings Finalizes Acquisition of Metro Supply Chain

On October 1, 2026, Tokyo-based NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS officially completed its acquisition of all shares in the Canadian logistics firm Metro Supply Chain Group. The deal, celebrated during a formal closing ceremony in Montreal on October 7, marks a significant expansion for the Japanese conglomerate within the North American market.

Nippon Express Holdings Finalizes Acquisition of Metro Supply Chain

Nippon Express President and CEO Satoshi Horikiri joined Metro Supply Chain Founder and Group Chairman Chiko Nanji at the Montreal town hall to integrate the two management teams. The acquisition grants NX Group a foothold across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, bolstered by Metro’s existing contract logistics operations in sectors ranging from automotive and healthcare to retail and consumer goods.

By absorbing Metro Supply Chain, NX Group intends to scale its end-to-end distribution capabilities and deploy Metro’s warehouse automation technologies across its broader Asian and European networks. The strategy includes cross-selling international freight and customs brokerage services to Metro’s current client base, effectively transforming the Canadian company into a central hub for the group's global contract logistics business.
