Crypto ETFs shed $610 million as Ethereum outflows outpace Bitcoin
U.S. crypto investment products faced a difficult week from Oct. 12 to 16, recording $610.7 million in net outflows across five major categories. While total withdrawals dropped by more than half compared to the previous week, Ethereum funds bore the brunt of the selling pressure, outpacing Bitcoin fund exits.

Data from Farside Investors indicates that Ethereum-based products saw $320.1 million in net withdrawals, accounting for over half of the total market drain. BlackRock’s ETHA fund was responsible for the bulk of this movement, shedding $299 million. Meanwhile, Bitcoin products saw $228.4 million in outflows, despite experiencing a brief period of resilience with $194.3 million in combined inflows during Tuesday’s trading session.
The broader market pullback extended beyond the two primary assets. Solana-based products lost $25.5 million, marking a second consecutive week of daily outflows, while Zcash and Hyperliquid products recorded a combined loss of $36.7 million. Although the $610.7 million weekly total represents a 52.5% decrease from the $1.29 billion lost the previous week, the negative trend remains widespread across tracked digital asset categories.
Market participants continue to monitor shifting macroeconomic indicators. While CoinShares suggested that changing interest rate expectations following U.S. inflation data influenced global investment sentiment, Farside’s records focus exclusively on fund-level flows without attributing specific causes to the exits. Amidst this volatility, VanEck opted to withdraw its registration for a proposed Lido Staked Ethereum ETF, confirming it does not intend to proceed with the distribution of shares for that specific product.
