China’s Supreme Court Bans Infineon GaN Sales in Patent Ruling

Infineon Technologies faces an immediate halt to its Gallium Nitride product sales across mainland China after the Supreme People's Court upheld a final injunction in favor of Innoscience. This definitive ruling concludes a high-stakes legal battle over core semiconductor patents, cementing a significant victory for the Suzhou-based innovator.

China’s Supreme Court Bans Infineon GaN Sales in Patent Ruling

The Supreme Court’s decision validates the May 27, 2026, verdict from the Suzhou Intermediate People's Court, which found that Infineon infringed upon two of Innoscience’s foundational invention patents. The court’s mandate forces Infineon to cease all sales, imports, and commercial offers of the contested GaN technology. Alongside the sales ban, the earlier judgment ordered Infineon to pay 10 million RMB—approximately $1.38 million USD—in damages to the plaintiff. By denying further appeals, the highest court in China has effectively removed Infineon’s relevant GaN portfolio from the domestic market, signaling a major shift in the competitive landscape for power semiconductor manufacturers.
