Gate Integrates Hong Kong Equities for USDT Trading

Crypto exchange Gate is bridging the divide between digital assets and traditional finance by enabling users to trade over 1,000 Hong Kong-listed stocks using USDT. The platform allows investors to bypass traditional brokerage accounts and currency conversions, consolidating equity and crypto management into a single interface.

The expansion covers companies listed on both the Main Board and the GEM of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Investors can now trade major firms including Tencent Holdings, HSBC, Xiaomi, BYD, and Meituan alongside their existing crypto portfolios. While portfolio values and trade executions are denominated in Hong Kong dollars, the ability to fund these positions directly with USDT marks a significant shift in how retail users interact with global equity markets.

This move mirrors a broader industry trend toward the convergence of tokenized assets and legacy finance. Competitors like Binance are rolling out access to thousands of U.S.-listed stocks, while platforms like Bitget are integrating APIs to facilitate trading of tokenized real-world assets. Gate’s strategy focuses on a unified account structure that now spans pre-IPO opportunities, secondary-market trading, and public equity offerings. Although trading remains restricted to standard market hours, users gain a streamlined experience for order tracking and position management that mirrors the functionality of Gate’s existing U.S. stock service.
