The infant, identified in court documents as PR, required emergency medical intervention and a ten-day hospital stay at Permanente Fontana Medical Center after consuming the formula. He was released on May 28 and continues to undergo ongoing medical care. The lawsuit also names retailer Target as a defendant, citing the distribution of the product through its stores and online platform.

First Botulism Lawsuit Filed Against Nara Organics After Infant Hospitalization
Stephanie and Ian Roltsch have initiated legal action against Nara Organics following their three-month-old son’s hospitalization for botulism. The lawsuit, filed in Riverside County by Ron Simon & Associates and Gomez Trial Attorneys, marks the first formal challenge against the manufacturer after their organic powdered formula was linked to a multi-state outbreak.
Federal health agencies, including the FDA and CDC, have identified three confirmed cases across California, Pennsylvania, and Washington involving illness onsets between April and May 2026. All affected infants were treated with BabyBIG, the sole FDA-approved therapy for infant botulism. Nara Organics initiated a voluntary recall on June 13, 2026, following a recommendation from the FDA due to the clear epidemiological connection between the product and the illnesses. The recalled formula, which was manufactured in Europe, was sold between July 2025 and June 2026. While official testing of the product samples remains ongoing, the firm has established a dedicated claim center to assist other families impacted by the outbreak.
