BitMine Adds 9,926 ETH, Inches Toward 5% Supply Target

BitMine Immersion Technologies expanded its Ethereum treasury by 9,926 tokens in the week ending August 16, bringing its total holdings to 5,815,164 ETH. This latest acquisition moves the company closer to its self-imposed objective of controlling 5% of the total Ethereum supply, a goal the firm labels the “Alchemy of 5%.”

BitMine Adds 9,926 ETH, Inches Toward 5% Supply Target

The company’s reported holdings represent approximately 4.8% of Ethereum’s estimated 120.7 million supply, based on an August 17 valuation of $1,893 per token. To reach its 5% milestone, BitMine requires roughly 219,836 more tokens. While the firm has maintained a consistent accumulation strategy since June 2025, the recent weekly purchase was smaller than peak acquisitions seen earlier this year, such as the 100,000 ETH added in a single week in May.

Financial markets responded positively to the update. BMNR stock rose 3.68% on the New York Stock Exchange to close at $18.73 on August 17, with an additional 0.37% gain in after-hours trading. Beyond its crypto holdings, the company continues to execute a $4 billion share buyback program, repurchasing 1.7 million shares last week and bringing the total to 20.8 million since July 1.

Staking Strategy and Portfolio Composition

BitMine has aggressively deployed its capital, with 5,067,309 ETH—roughly 87% of its treasury—currently staked. The company utilizes its "Made in America Validator Network" (MAVAN) alongside other partners to generate returns. Based on a seven-day yield of 2.61%, BitMine projects $250 million in annualized staking revenue, though this remains an estimate subject to network activity and fluctuating validator rewards.

The firm’s total portfolio, valued at $11.4 billion, includes more than just Ethereum. It holds 210 Bitcoin, $78 million in cash and marketable securities, and strategic “moonshot” investments, including a $180 million stake in Beast Industries and $73 million in Eightco Holdings. While the company’s market capitalization of $11.3 billion remains near the value of its assets, the stock continues to trade well below its 52-week high of $65.60.
