Coastal Financial Faces Fraud Investigation After 43% Share Price Plunge

A 43.5% collapse in Coastal Financial Corporation’s stock value on July 30 has triggered a formal securities fraud investigation by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld LLP. The inquiry centers on whether the Everett-based bank misled investors regarding the credit quality and financial health of its CCBX banking-as-a-service division.

The legal scrutiny follows the company’s second-quarter financial report, which disclosed a net loss of $42.1 million. This deficit marked a sharp reversal from the $12 million net income recorded during the same period the previous year. Management attributed the downturn to a $68.8 million credit expense linked to a single, unnamed partner within its CCBX segment.

Investors witnessed the company’s share price crater from $70.66 to $39.91 in a single day of trading. BFA Law is now examining whether prior disclosures concerning the bank's partner relationships accurately reflected the risks inherent in its operations. The firm is currently soliciting information from shareholders to determine if the company’s public statements constituted actionable misrepresentations.
