As the Beijing International Book Fair celebrates its 40th anniversary from June 17 to 21, 2026, the event shifts focus toward the intersection of artificial intelligence and cross-media intellectual property. Beijing International Book Fair Marks Four Decades of Growth

The scale of this year's event reflects a market in flux, with 60,000 square meters of exhibition space dedicated to the evolution of the industry. Data from Douyin indicates that book-related content uploads have doubled year-on-year, fueling a 99% surge in e-commerce orders. This digital momentum serves as the backdrop for the introduction of a dedicated IP Licensing Zone, organized in partnership with the China Toy & Juvenile Products Association, alongside a new showcase for generative AI solutions from industry heavyweights like Tencent, NetEase, and ByteDance’s Fanqie Novel.

Strategic discourse will dominate the fair’s schedule, moving beyond traditional literature to address the practical integration of new technology. Forums such as The PubTech Conference and the International Publishing Education Summit aim to map the future of talent cultivation in an AI-centric era. Meanwhile, the UAE takes center stage as the designated Country of Honour, and Global Reading Ambassador Liu Zhenyun leads a series of over 1,000 cultural events across the city, underscored by the massive commercial success of his latest novel, Salty Jokes.
